An “impressive debut”, that is how “The Wine Advocate” referred to our wines in its October article written by Monica Larner. Seven of the wines produced by the Cavaion Veronese winery were in fact reviewed by the famous wine magazine, with some very pleasing comments and ratings of between 90 and 95 points.

This result was as unexpected as it was satisfying, rewarding as it does the hard work carried out by Cesari in recent years in order to promote and raise the standards of all its wines from Valpolicella.

From Amarone to Ripasso and from Recioto to Valpolicella Classico – without forgetting our Corvina – all of the main wines produced by the winery in fact obtained extremely positive critiques, summed up in the comment that “The Wine Advocate” makes about the company: “Franco Cesari now runs the company founded by his father Gerardo Cesari in 1936. They own vineyards in Valpolicella and Lugana with four historic single-vineyard sites: Bosan, Il Bosco, Jèma and Cento Filari. The house style veers toward the international side of the Amarone spectrum. Their wines are exceptionally clean and balanced, revealing unique personalities across the board. In the ten years I have tasted Cesari, I don’t remember finding the overtly raisiny or oxidative qualities you sometimes get with Amarone. This flight with excellent picks from the 2010, 2009, 2007 and 2005 vintages makes for an impressive debut in these pages”.

This success underlines the attention that Gerardo Cesari pays to its local region in order to highlight the immense richness of Verona’s winemaking heritage.

Here are all the ratings for Gerardo Cesari’s wines according to “The Wine Advocate”:

2007 Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Il Bosco 95 points

2005 Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella D.O.C. Bosan 94 points

2010 Cesari Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Bosan 92 points

2009 Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 91 points

2009 Cesari Corvina Jèma 90 points

2010 Cesari Recioto della Valpolicella Classico 90 points

2011 Cesari Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Mara 90 points
